Easy Smoked Baby Back Ribs Recipe
Set up your smoker and get the temperature up to about 275F. You can use a gas or charcoal grill as well, but you would need to set it up for indirect grilling and get the temp set the same. I’m a fan of using apple wood to smoke my baby back ribs, but you can use your favorite wood. Here is the wood I use.
While your smoker is getting heated up, lets prep the baby back ribs. Just an fyi, they can also be referred to as loin back ribs. As the video about showed, you will want to peel off the membrane. Pat the ribs dry with a paper towel. With the ribs ready to go, we are going to whip up our rib rub.
In a small mixing bowl combine the cumin, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, and kosher salt. Mix together well and set aside. Now we are going to make an injector sauce.
This is going to be a simple injector sauce. In a large jar or bowl combine the apple juice and water. Mix in a Tbsp of your rib rub you just made. Now you are going to need a meat injector. Make sure to use a good one like this.
Take your ribs and inject them with the sauce between the bones in the meaty areas. Do this for both racks of ribs. Once you’ve injected them, coat them on both side with your baby back rib rub.
Now it is time to put the ribs on the smoker. Leave them on the smoker for 2 hours. Once the 2 hours have passed take each of the racks of ribs off and wrap them in aluminum foil. The ribs will be basically steaming and cooking in their own juices. You can at this point also add in a bit of beer or more apple juice. Once wrapped, place them back on the smoker for 1 hour.
After the hour has passed, pull them off the smoker and remove them from the aluminum foil. Place them back on the smoker. At this point if you like a little sauce on your ribs, brush on a bit of your favorite BBQ sauce using a basting brush. Otherwise you can leave them as is. Leave them on the smoker for another hour or so.
About 4 hours have gone by at this point and your baby back ribs should be ready to go. Pull the ribs off the smoker and let them rest for about 10 minutes before slicing into them. That is all there is to it for some easy smoked baby back ribs that turn out moist and delicious. Enjoy!
