Simple Grilled Hamburger Recipe
Divide your ground beef into as many portions as you like. I usually go to about 1 inch thickness myself. Form them into patties, they don’t have to be perfect. But if you like you can use one of these burger presses, they make perfectly formed patties, and are also good for stuffed burgers. One thing to note when forming your patties, just don’t over-work the burger.
Have you ever had your burger ball up while grilling, or seen it happen to someone else? Well to get around that, just press down in the center of each patty to form an indentation. That will keep them from balling up. As you seen in the ingredients list, there isn’t much for seasoning. A great hamburger only needs a bit of olive oil, some kosher salt, and some cracked black pepper. Easy huh?
Once your hamburgers are ready to go, heat up your gas or charcoal grill for direct grilling over high heat. These burgers are not going to take long. Once the grill is heat up, brush a bit of oil on the grates and place the burgers on the grill right over the heat source.
Grill the burgers only flipping once halfway through cooking using a grill spatula. You don’t want to continuously flip them. Once they start getting some nice grill marks on it, it will be about time to flip them. You just want to make sure you cook them all the way through. This will likely be about 2 to 3 minutes per side depending upon how well you like your burger cooked.
Once the burgers are ready top with some cheese and close the lid. Give the cheese enough time to melt; that should only be around 30 seconds. It’s time to toast your hamburger buns. Butter each side of the bun and place on a cooler part of the grill. Leave the lid off, as this won’t take long; maybe 15 to 30 seconds.
Once your burgers and buns are ready, plate them up and top with your favorite toppings. It doesn’t get much easier than that to make some great hamburgers. Enjoy!
