Today we are going to show you how to easily grill salmon steaks and fillets that turn out amazing. A lot of people are afraid to grill fish because they have a tendency to stick, but as you will see there are a couple things you can do to keep that from happening. You don’t need much to make some great grilled salmon.
Here is what you will need:
Salmon Fillets and Steaks
Kosher Salt
Freshly Cracked Black Pepper
As you can see there isn’t a whole lot you really need.
Easy Grilled Salmon Steaks & Fillets
It is best to get salmon with skin, because that will help it from sticking to the grill, and hold the salmon together. Once you have your salmon steaks and/or fillets, pat them dry with a paper towel, then season them with a bit of Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. The Kosher salt will also help to keep the fish from sticking to the grill.
Once your grill has heated up, make sure to oil the grates. This will also help to keep the salmon from sticking. Place the salmon on the grill over the heat source. If you are grilling fillets, place them skin side up first unless you like really crispy skin.
Let the fillets and steaks grill without touching them. They will release from the grill grates when they are ready. You will want to flip your salmon when it is about 60% cooked, which will be approximately 6 minutes depending upon the thickness of your salmon. It helps to flip the salmon over with a flat spatula like this. Grill for approximately 4 more minutes.
Once they are done, remove from the grill and let the salmon rest for a few minutes. Serve and enjoy! It is that easy to make some really flavorful salmon steaks and fillets.
Another thing that I like to use to keep the salmon from sticking to the grill is a cedar plank. Planks like these ones are really handy, plus they add a great flavor to your fish.
