Grilled Stuffed Pizza Burgers
2 lbs ground beef
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup chopped pepperoni (about 1 oz)
2 tbsp ripe olives, sliced
1/2 cup pizza sauce
6 slices mozzarella cheese
6 hamburger buns
6 leaves lettuce
In a mixing bowl combine the ground beef and salt. Form the ground beef into 12 thin patties. You will want them to be approximately 4 inches in diameter.
Using a small mixing bowl combine the pepperoni, olives, and 1/3 cup of pizza sauce.
Spoon this mixture onto the center of 6 of the patties you formed. You will need approximately 1 tsbp of the mixture for each of the six patties.
Take the other 6 patties and place them on top of the patties with the mixture. Press the edges together to seal them.
Set up your gas or charcoal grill for medium-high heat.
Place the pizza burgers on the grate. Grill for approximately 4 to 6 minutes per side, flipping once halfway through.
During the last 1 to 2 minutes of grilling place the slice of mozzarella cheese on each burger, and also a teaspoon of the remaining pizza sauce.
During this time it is also a great idea to toast the buns. Toasted buns taste so much better.
Once bother the pizza burgers and buns are done, place the burgers on the bun and top with the lettuce leaves.
