What’s the Difference Between a Pork Butt and Pork Shoulder?
Both the pork butt and pork shoulder are cuts of pork from the shoulder of the hog. They are cut from the upper part of the front leg. The pork butt or Boston butt as it is often called is from the thicker part of the shoulder. The pork shoulder as you will find it label at the market is from the thinner, triangular shaped end of the shoulder.
Both cuts are excellent grilled and smoked, and they are often used to make pulled pork. Think slow and low when cooking these cuts of pork.
