If you have ever had a Five Guys burger, you know how good they can be. They really make a good burger. I don’t have one really close to where I’m at, so I don’t have them that often, but it is great that I can make something similar at home. Even if you have never had a Five Guys burger, you have got to try this recipe.
Here is what you will need:
Ground Beef 80/20
Ketchup
Mustard
Lettuce
Chopped Onions
Mayonaise
Tomatoes
Seasame Buns
American Deli Cheese
Pickle Slices
If you go to a Five Guys Burgers you will notice that they have a lot of toppings. In the video below you will see that he uses just a few basic topping, which I think make for a really good burger.
In the video he takes some of the burger and makes a few rounds of it, places it between parchment paper, and flattens it. I’m not sure of the exact tool he is using to flatten the patties, but you can use one of these cast iron grill presses to flatten your patties.
He is grilling on a Weber charcoal grill, and he is using this griddle insert for it, which is very cool. If you don’t have a Weber charcoal grill you can make these on a gas grill too. You can use one of these cast iron grill/griddle pans which can be used on your gas grill and even on the stove. You will want to grill the burgers over a medium-high heat. You will we grilling the chopped onions on the griddle too.
Assembly of these burgers seems to be an important step in making a copy of the Five Guys burger. On the bottom of your bun you will put the ketchup and mustard, grilled onions. The top bun you will put the mayo, lettuce, pickles, then two slices of tomato. Place the burger on the bottom bun, and top with the top bun. It is really easy, and delicious. Check out the video below to see how it is made. Enjoy!
