Sweet potatoes are really good grilled, and today I’m going to show you how to grill sweet potatoes in foil. Grilling in aluminum foil is really easy because it locks in all the flavor and basically steams your vegetables. My favorite way to grill sweet potatoes in foil is to cut them into wedges.
I like to use just some simple seasonings when I grill my sweet potatoes. Here is what you will need:
2 pounds Sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into wedges
4 tbsp butter, melted
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
2 tsp seasoned salt
Heavy-duty aluminum foil
In a large mixing bowl mix the melted butter and seasonings. Add in the sweet potato wedges and toss them so they are all coated evenly. Tear off a large piece of aluminum foil and place the sweet potatoes in the middle. Fold the foil over and seal each end by double folding it tightly. This will seal it well.
Set up your gas or charcoal grill for direct grilling over medium-high heat. Once the grill is heated, place the foil pouch on the grill over the heat. Grill for around 30 to 40 minutes turning the packet over half way through cooking. Once done the packet will be puffed up and the sweet potatoes will be tender.
