Garlic bread on the grill is amazing, and so is pretty much any bread. I’m going to show you how to grill garlic bread the easy way. Grilled bread is so easy to make, it is the only way to crisp up your breads if you are already grilling. Grilling garlic bread gives it a nice char and a light smoky flavor.
The one thing about grilling garlic bread or any bread for that matter is you have to keep your eye on it. Bread will burn easily and even more so if you have oils or butters on it. I’m going show you a simple garlic cheese bread recipe that is full of flavor.
First you are going to need a loaf of French bread. These are usually 20 to 24 inches in length, which is perfect for our needs. You will also need the following:
1 ½ sticks salted butter
3 garlic cloves, minced
¼ cup parsley, finely chopped
½ tsp black pepper
¼ cup Parmesan cheese
Take your loaf of French bread and slice it diagonally lengthwise into ½ inch thick slices. You should get around 16 slices from a loaf of bread. It is easiest to use a serrated bread knife like this one to slice the bread.
Make sure your butter is at room temperature the put it into a mixing bowl. Cream it using a wooden spoon or a whisk. Add in the garlic, parsley, black pepper, and Parmesan cheese. Mix it all until it is light and fluffy. If you have one, I’d recommend a food processor, it makes this part so much easier. Here is the one I have. Once it is ready use a spatula and brush both sides of the bread with the mixture.
Set up your gas or charcoal grill for high heat. Keep a cooler zone on your grill in case your bread starts to burn. If you are using a charcoal grill you can just keep one of the sides without coals. If using gas, keep one of the burners off.
One your grill is ready place the bread on the grate. Grill the garlic bread until it is golden brown on both sides, this should be about 1 to 3 minutes per side. Keep your eye on it all during grilling, it will burn fast. If it starts to burn move it to the cooler part of the grill. Once done remove from the grill and serve.
That is how to grill garlic bread the easy way. There are so many different butters and oils that you can use to make different breads, so make sure to experiment.
