Today we are going to show you how to make Grilled Bacon Cheese Dogs.
Every family cookout usually has hot dogs. But usually they are just the plain, boring ones you feed the kids.
Not these dogs. These hot dogs have a ton of flavor with the addition of swiss cheese, bacon, bbq sauce, and red onions. You and your family will love these dogs. For more information on grilling hot dogs check out my post on how to grill hot dogs.
Enjoy!
Grilled Bacon Cheese Dogs
8 all-beef hot dogs
8 slices bacon
8 hot dog buns
8 slices Swiss cheese
1/2 cup barbeque sauce
1 small red onion, diced
Set up your gas or charcoal grill for medium-high heat.
Brown the bacon on the grill using a cast iron skillet or do it indoors on the stove. Drain the grease and set the bacon on some paper towels.
Place the hot dogs on the grill. Cook until browned, turning once. This will be around 5 – 10 minutes.
Once the hot dogs are almost done, lightly toast the hot dog buns on the grill as well. This will only take a couple of minutes, so watch them close.
To assemble the hot dogs, place a slice of Swiss cheese and bacon on the bun. Add the hot dog and top with the barbecue sauce and red onion.
Servings: 8
A cool item I came across to help with grilling hot dogs and sausages is a sausage grill basket. It’s a neat idea to help with grilling a bunch of hot dogs. You can check it out here.
