I’ve got a super simple grilled asparagus recipe for you today. There isn’t much to this recipe, but it has a ton of flavor that you and your family are sure to love.
Grilled Asparagus with Parmesan Cheese
Ingredients:
1 lb. Asparagus
1 Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/2 cup Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese
Salt & Pepper to taste
Set up your gas or charcoal grill for direct grilling over medium high heat. You are going to want to use a vegetable grill pan for cooking these, it makes it a lot easier and keep the asparagus from falling through the grates. Here is the grill pan I use. Once the grill has heated place the grill pan on the grill and let it heat up while you prepare the asparagus.
Time to get the asparagus ready. You do not want to cook the asparagus as is, because they have tough ends. So, grab one spear and bend it to see where it snaps. This will show you were the tough part starts. You can snap the rest of the asparagus, otherwise just cut them all to the same length where the original spear snapped. Discard the tough ends. Make sure to rinse off all the spears.
Place the asparagus spears into a large resealable bag and add in the olive oil and a bit of salt and pepper. Seal the bag and mix it around until the asparagus is completely coated. Pour the asparagus out into your grill pan. Grill, turning the asparagus every couple of minutes until you see the edges turning brown. The grilling time will vary depending upon your heat, but it should take about 20 minutes.
Once the asparagus is browned and barely tender crisp, remove from the grill and place on a platter. Sprinkle the freshly grated Parmesan on top and serve immediately.
