Today I’m going to show you how to make Grilled Beer Brats. Growing up beer brats were always the popular choice at our outdoor cookouts. Dad and my uncles would love making beer brats because it involved having a couple beers while grilling. Us kids just loved the brats cover in ketchup.
They are really good and easy too.
Here is a simple recipe for beer brats that has some really great flavor. You are going to love the use of onions in this one.
Grilled Beer Brats
10 bratwurst
4 (12 ounce) cans of beer
1 large onion, diced
2 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
Setup your gas or charcoal grill for medium-high heat.
In a large stock pot, combine the beer and onions. Bring to a boil. Add the bratwurst, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Reduce the heat to medium and cook for approximately 10 minutes.
Remove the brats from the mixture and reduce the heat to low and continue to simmer the onions.
Grill the brats directly over the heat source for about 5 minutes per side.
Transfer them to buns or to your plate. Using a slotted spoon top the bratwurst with some of the onions from the beer and onion mixture.
